Job Purpose

  • Advise and support Corrosion Engineering related activities (Coating, Corrosion Protection Systems, Corrosion Inhibition Systems, etc.) for all project facilities during EPC and Startup phase until handover to permanent Asset whilst ensuring project deliverables meet Operations expectations in term of Safety, Operability, Reliability and Maintainability over the facility design life cycle.

Key Job Accountabilities - I

  • Reviews material, design and monitoring requirements of new projects in the area of Corrosion Engineering such as Coating, Cathodic Protection & Corrosion Inhibitions and submits recommendations.
  • Define and conducts corrosion monitoring and prevention activities, and if necessary corrosion investigation. Maintain Issue Register identifying and resolving critical issues including new technology risks (under area of responsibility) which could impact new project Reliability, Availability and Cyber Security.
  • Participates in Chemical selection and review the test reports for corrosion prevention in pipelines and process plants.
  • Define and ensure coating condition surveys are performed and review priority notifications for inspection evaluation.
  • Ensure quality implementations of project painting/coating requirements for pipelines, structures, equipment and tanks, and gives recommendations about selection of systems and procedures for proper quality control.  Verify and ensure paint quality inspection performed by inspectors

Key Job Accountabilities - II

  • Perform as the technical expert in the field of corrosion engineering, provide direct and indirect advice to multiple parties within Qatargas in the field of corrosion engineering.
  • Interface with and act as a technical representative for Qatargas on corrosion related matters with outside organizations (i.e. shareholders, vendors, other corrosion consultants).
  • Follow and execute existing corrosion and integrity related procedures, processes, standards, and best practices as needed in order to maintain compliance with regulatory standards or improve the effectiveness and efficiency of corrosion mitigation.
  • Develop, implement, and steward Operational corrosion engineering programs for company facilities including offshore platforms, pipelines, onshore process facilities, condensate refinery, storage facilities, export and loading facilities and ensure that company utilizes cost effective corrosion control and monitoring equipment.
  • Review and analyse corrosion engineering reports, test results, failure investigations and provide recommendations for corrective measures or actions to restore equipment functionality, improve equipment performance or to extend its operating life.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Science major in Engineering in the area of specialization.

Knowledge and/or Experience - I

  • 8 years’ experience in the area of specialization within Oil and Gas industry.
  • Expert knowledge in Cathodic Protection Systems, Coating, Internal Corrosion Monitoring, Chemical Inhibition/Treatment & Risk Based Material Selection.

Technical and Business Skills - I

  • Able to work and make decisions under highly stressing conditions.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Strong leadership & people skills.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office, SAP).
