Job Purpose
- Facilitate and assist with the coordination of fire protection program, related risk mitigation activities within assigned area, while supporting the fire protection section to perform code enforcement activities and inspection and testing of firefighting equipment.
Key Job Accountabilities - I
- Coordinate oversight of the Inspection, Testing and Maintenance (ITM) the fire protection section in the assigned area to ensure integrity and readiness of firefighting equipment and system at all times.
- Compile and analyse monthly reports of all ITM activities, generate a list of fire system deficiencies, discrepancies and closely monitor maintenance progress towards rectification to ensure compliance.
- Perform Risk Screening and process fire protection impairment certificates in coordination with assets and stakeholders ensuring mitigation arrangements, and its reporting and monitoring to ensure business continuity.
- Conduct fire protection awareness trainings to the relevant personnel to achieve the division’s fire protection training objectives.
- Assist in the development of division procedures, technical instructions and manuals to improve the working effectiveness of the section.
Key Job Accountabilities - II
- Design and propose appropriate ITM monitoring and evaluation systems to ensure consistent reporting, analysis of results and timely follow-up to enhance effectiveness of ITM program.
- Coordinate and participate in acceptance testing and inspection of new fire systems, preparing technical reports of fire code violations observed/punch list items for each tested system, conducting follow-ups and initiating new systems integration into Inspection and Testing program post final acceptance, to ensure compliance.
- Assist and provide technical expertise in fire protection design basis and support the review of management of change (MOC) requests and interfaces to ensure appropriate fire protection systems are applied in plant and equipment modifications.
- Coordinate and collaborate with fire protection regulatory agencies and others to maintain fire safety/occupancy regulatory certifications and approvals.
- Assist Fire Protection Lead in the process of planning, preparation of budget and objective setting of the section to help provide clear direction, enhance team’s focus, allocate resources efficiently and ensure accurate budgeting.
Qualifications
- Completed of higher secondary education.
- Completion of associated/relevant qualifications (modules on Fire Engineering Science, Fire Science, Fire Inspector, Fire Investigation).
Knowledge and/or Experience - I
- 6 years’ experience in inspection, testing and maintenance of fire protection systems and equipment, including 3 years in a supervisory position in energy and/or process industry.
- Knowledge of current national and international legislation related to Fire Protection
