Job Purpose

  • Support business functions and provide detailed IT technical expertise, works under general direction, use discretion in identifying and resolving complex problems, independently resolve day to day issues, and plan own work to meet assigned objectives and KPIs.

Job Context & Major Challenge(s)

  1. The operation and control of the IT infrastructure (comprising physical or virtual hardware, software, network services and data storage) either on-premises or provisioned as cloud services that is required to deliver and support the information systems needs of a business.
  2. Preparation for new or changed services, operation of the change process.
  3. Maintenance of regulatory, legal, security and professional standards.
  4. The application of infrastructure management tools to automate the provisioning, testing, deployment, and monitoring of infrastructure components.
  5. Timely resolution of any issues and ensuring operational and project KPIs are met.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Ensure agreed operational procedures associated with operating and controlling the installed (or virtual) hardware and software are followed. This includes configuration and maintenance of multiple hardware or software platforms. Implement maintenance routines, utilizing the appropriate tools and test equipment.
  • Identify operational problems and contribute to their resolution, investigate, diagnose, and resolve low impact operational problems following incident management procedures, within service level agreement tolerances, and act on known errors and documented workarounds.
  • Perform routine configuration/installation and reconfiguration of hardware and software as on approved change management process.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance activities on IT Infrastructure services (Network Infra, Datacenter, Systems).
  • Install or remove hardware and/or software using supplied installation instructions and tools including, where appropriate, and handover to the client.
  • Apply standard user/system interfaces, including reports, validation and error correction procedures, processing rules, access, security and audit controls, recovery routines and contingency procedures.
  • Investigate potential and actual service problems and recommend solutions. Analyze change and system requests and follow formal procedures to plan and test proposed solutions.
  • Collect performance data to monitor system efficiency against published service level agreements and monitor resource usage and failure rates of installed systems and provide feedback to management.
  • Assist with creating architecture designs, topologies, configuration and documentation of IT systems and network infrastructure services.
  • Assist with the use of infrastructure management tools to collect and report on load and performance data and statistics and carry out required monitoring, logging, and reporting tasks

Person Specification - Minimum Requirement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information technology, or information systems.

Knowledge and/or Experience

  • 5 years’ IT experience.
  • Competent knowledge in core skill applications, tools, and techniques.
  • Conversant with relevant IT national and international standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management.
  • Demonstrated experience in IT support environment.

Technical and Business Skills

  • Excellent written and spoken English.
