Part A: Job Specification

Job Purpose

  • Provide and assist with maintenance, availability, and reliability of various Telecom systems and ensures that all preventative and corrective (PM & CM) and system maintenance activities are carried out on equipment in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Follow up Project activities and ensure compliance with technical and safety specifications for all the assigned Telecom and IT systems.

Reporting and Relationships - I

  • Reports to I&C Lead.

Internal

  • Frequent contact with Asset Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, HSEQ and Supply departments.

External

  • Periodic contact with suppliers, contractors, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Qatar Energy (QE).

Reporting and Relationships - II

Job Context & Major Challenge(s) - I

  • Single point of contact for all IT and Telecom Systems during project execution phase.
  • Support parallel multi projects activities during EPC and SU phase.
  • Resolve system completion technical issues.
  • Maintain and carry out fault diagnosis and routine maintenance of various Telecom & IT systems.
  • Provide technical support regarding all expansion project deliverables.

Key Job Accountabilities - I

  • Develop Operation Readiness Plan (ORP) telecom deliverables at FEED stage and follow up on their progress.
  • Ensures agreed operational procedures associated with operating and controlling the installed (or virtual) telecommunication, IT systems hardware and software are followed, including configuration and maintenance of multiple Telecommunication, IT systems hardware or software platforms.
  • Implements maintenance routines, Lesson Learned utilizing the appropriate tools and test equipment. Uses standard procedures and tools to carry out defined systems backup and restoring data where necessary.
  • Supports use of Telecommunication and IT infrastructure management tools and test equipment to automate the provisioning, testing and deployment of new or changed Telecommunication and IT systems infrastructure.

  • Facilitates and follow system completion activities related to Telecom and IT installation, removal, upgrading and repair of equipment during project phase.
  • Identifies Telecommunication and IT systems operational problems and contributes to their resolution. Investigates, diagnoses, and resolves low impact operational problems following incident management procedures, within service level agreement tolerances, referring to users, other staff, and suppliers, as necessary.
  • Resolve problems and faults and corrects malfunctions during Start up and early operation.
  • Assist with leading Telecom deliverables handover to permanent IT organization.

Part B: Person Specification - Minimum Requirement

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.

Knowledge and/or Experience - I

  • 4 years of relevant experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry.

Knowledge and/or Experience - II

Technical and Business Skills - I

  • Basic knowledge of design, specification, installation, testing with exposure to major Telecommunication & IT systems such as SDH, PDH and other transmission systems, long-haul links, VHF, Marine, Air-band and UHF TMR radio systems, fibre and copper cabling, fusion splicing, PABX, CCTV, Security Access control, plant Public Address General Alarm (PAGA) systems.
  • Knowledge of telecom industry standards to the level of competence to compile technical specifications.
  • Experience in planning, budgeting, and contracting.
