Job Purpose
- Direct and lead the production activities within the designated Offshore Asset area of responsibility, regarding day-to-day operations and the management of a multi-skilled offshore operations team, by providing leadership for safe, reliable, environmentally sound and optimised operation of the Qatargas Offshore Production facilities.
Reporting and Relationships
- Reports to Offshore Installation Manager.
- Direct reports: 2-4 (Total Headcount: 20-25).
Internal
- Frequent contact with Offshore Heads and Managers across Operations & Maintenance, SHE&Q, Shutdown Planners, Offshore logistics team, OES and Major Projects.
- Periodic contact with Surveillance and Reliability Engineering and drilling.
External
- Frequent contact with 3rd Party contractors, key vendors and suppliers during on board.
- Periodic contact with and shareholder representatives.
Job Context & Major Challenge(s)
- Major challenges are (1) provide strategic support to the OIM’s; (2) provide leadership for operational, process & operational safety issues for the offshore asset facilities within his area of responsibility, including associated remote platforms; (3) provide input and support to project expansion; (4) functions within clear defined policies and procedures; (5) coordinate an extensive range of activities necessary to ensure fulfilment of the onshore gas demand, including adherence to issued Production Guidelines; (6) provide leadership and guidance in the planning and preparation activities for issuing of the company PTW system; (7) provide leadership on facility process issues related to normal operations, facility upsets, start-up and shutdown conditions; (8) ensures RWHP visits are executed effectively and efficiently; (9) provide input for project expansion and related shutdown activities; (10) integrate Major Project SIMOPS activities to avoid base operations disruption.
- Perform key role in the Offshore Tier 1 Incident Response Team.
- Working an on/off offshore rotation.

- Ensure all activities are undertaken in compliance with Company Safety, Health and Environment and Quality policies, regulations and standards.

Key Job Accountabilities
- Direct a team of production operations staff to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operations of the assigned offshore assets, through effective planning and execution of activities consistent with company policies and procedures.
- Work closely with Wellhead & Operations Support Team and other stakeholders to ensure seamless production of feed gas from Offshore, meeting onshore demand and to deliver on-spec and on-time gas volumes within specifications.
- Ensure the adequacy of work plans, from activity efficiency and effectiveness, assuring these are captured in the department’s integrated activity plan and assuring that each is effectively resourced and communicated to all relevant parties. Implement & execute all integrity and maintenance programs associated with QG offshore wells.
- Evaluate and manage all offshore operational risks in Offshore Asset including wells and pipelines to ALARP level (As Low As Reasonably Practicable). Ensure MOR process is followed for any identified risk and mitigation measures are properly implemented. Implement all the Process Safety initiatives rolled by Operation Excellence across the asset.
- Provide operational leadership and guidance in responses to all incidents or events as Production Section Lead. Provide input to Incident Commander on operational issues during any facility emergencies in alignment with company policies and procedures.
Key Job Accountabilities
- Ensure Permit to Work (PTW) application and compliance, through self-audits and all remedial actions identified are completed whilst ensuring alignment with safety operation procedures, environmental protection, occupational health and security regulations as per company policies. Support for audits and implement the recommendations within the stipulated period.
- Implement shutdown turnaround in coordination with Onshore Shutdown Execution and Offshore Maintenance Team. This includes ensuring all facility maintenance, including facility shutdowns and start-ups, pigging, subsea inspections are executed, effectively with consideration to safety and environmental issues.
- Coordinate Operations budget submissions and take the lead in the development of operating cost optimization strategies by encouraging the implementation of operating best practices to achieve business targets and KPI.
- Ensure effective implementation of the company Competency Assurance Programs, development of operating procedures whilst conducting timely reviews to identify any potential enhancement requirements. Motivate and advise staff on company’s key policies and procedure, e.g., Risk & Work Management policies to ensure consistent implementation and compliance.
- Advise, coordinate and support at all stages of Major Project expansion (NFPS: I1P1, EPCOL, Compression; NFXP: NFS, NFE) activities, through participation in P&ID and document reviews, HAZOP’s/HAZID’s, etc., including major and minor projects by managing any SIMOPs activities and providing operational input to ensure all project deliverables are supported by the department.
Minimum Requirement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in Chemical, Process, Petroleum, Mechanical in Engineering.
Knowledge and/or Experience
- 10 years of operational experience in the Oil and Gas industry, of which 5 years are in supervisory /management roles.
- In-depth knowledge of offshore production system and process.
Technical and Business Skills
- Excellent in written and spoken English.
- Computer literate with a good knowledge of business software applications and SAP systems.
- Ability to deal with unusual situations and conflict.
