Job Purpose

  • Provide oversight of Asset Accounting and Spare Parts Inventory Accounting including related financial, accounting, management accounting, tax, and related issues with a broad overview of all financial matters relating to the section including SAP Asset and Materials Management modules. Conduct the review and implementation of changes related to Asset & Material regulations and ensure that all activities comply with all relevant regulatory, legislative, and professional accounting and financial standards and requirements.

Key Job Accountabilities - I

  • Set objectives and goals for Asset & Material Accountants and ensure that month-end, quarter-end, and year-end divisional activities are delivered following established guidelines and procedures, including taking the lead in addressing complex non-routine/adhoc activity providing recommendations and ensuring resolution where an expert Asset Accounting response is required.
  • Review the preparation of statutory and management monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and advise on complex transactions and perform complex reconciliations. Understand Asset Accounting, Spare Parts Accounting and Cost Allocation to be able to independently prepare reports for ad-hoc requests.
  • Develop processes and procedures to ensure that changes in the control and reporting environment are addressed in line with corporate requirements, including the preparation of internal and external reports and position papers presenting a range of options and recommendations. Review, recommend, and implement improvements in the current SAP setup ensuring a robust system landscape.
  • Interface with internal and external clients to obtain complex and sensitive financial information in to provide advice and guidance on capital cost recovery for commercial agreements such as the ARFSA (including complex construction of financial models) including the interpretation and explanation of Qatargas policies and procedures, as well as financial position in relation to Asset Accounting. This Includes liaising with Operations, Commercial and Legal teams to obtain desired information.

Key Job Accountabilities - II

  • Monitor day-to-day performance to identify and provide recommendations for possible enhancement or improvements and provide input for the development of financial systems and procedures. Lead and co-ordinate projects to ensure objectives are delivered.
  • Liaise with Project Accounting and technical functions to ensure that projects close out activities are completed in a timely manner and ensure that the asset register is designed, updated, and maintained per DFA/JVA requirements.
  • Provide finance input in relation to projects within set terms of reference and defined processes. Develop and implement policies and process changes in relation to Asset Accounting.
  • Lead the Asset verification process with Asset Managers to ensure that asset verification is carried out in line with corporate requirements.
  • Maintain asset accounting of all capital lease arrangements such as rigs, residential properties, and other assets under IFRS. Responsible for the maintenance of the IFRS 16 model, liaising with Cost Control and Contracts sections to ensure new contracts falling under the definition of IFRS 16 are identified, accounted for, and reported correctly.
  • Train and develop staff to perform their role within the team, set objectives, and provide feedback.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline and an internationally recognised professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CA, CFA, CIMA, CMA, CPA).

Knowledge and/or Experience - I

  • 7 years’ experience in a finance function in the Oil & Gas Industry, of which 5 years in senior roles.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting systems including SAP FI/Co model.
  • Advanced financial knowledge in a range of areas including consolidation, compilation, and analysis.
